Mold identification and Dust characterization

Mold is a general term used to refer to a wide range of fungi, which are single and multicellular organisms including yeast, and mushrooms. Mold grows in any environment, and is typically visible having a colored and fuzzy appearance. Harmless mold colonies are utilized in food production such as meats and cheeses, as well as the pharmaceutical industry in the form on penicillin. However, when mold spores are present in large they present human health hazards that range from respiratory problems to neurological diseases. Distinguishing between harmful and harmless mold can only be determined through laboratory testing, as they are undetectable by the human eye.
